ProSource Guacamole and Margarita Fundraiser Generates Over $70,000 For Make-A-Wish
ProSource members converged in San Antonio this week for their typical duties. Present awards, talk shop, meet with industry partners, attend a few educational sessions, and improve their bottom line.
However, this year the members teamed up with Make-A-Wish America in a guacamole and margarita contest that helped raised $71,000 for the charity. Emceed by Marc Fisher of Origin Acoustics, the members split up into twenty sponsored teams and were given roughly an hour to make their best concoctions.
As lime juice stained the table and avocado skins littered the floor, teams were encouraged to "bribe" the panel of esteemed judges, with all the proceeds going to charity.
But that wasn't enough. Fisher stood atop a table and was able to raise nearly $40,000 in the short window of time, as vendors and integrators of the group generously supported the cause.
Founder and CEO of OneVision Joseph Kolchinsky was one of the members who stepped up to donate, adding his name to the long list of members who helped make a serious impact for the kids.
“Sometimes happiness is the best medicine and the amazing team at the Make-A-Wish Foundation fills that “happiness” prescription for kids who need it every day," Kolchinsky said. "I’m proud to have been a part of ProSource’s effort to help this cause, and it was inspiring to watch the ProSource family come together and step up to donate over $70,000 to the foundation.”
Winners were given small tokens to remember the night, but for the buying group, it is the kids who won that night.
