Lutron Electronics founder Joel Spira died Wednesday at the age of 88.
Lutron has announced that John McKiernan, the company's vice chairman for the past 23 years, passed away last month at the age of 79. Known as "Mac," McKiernan joined Lutron shortly after its founding in 1961 and played a big part in it worldwide expansion.
Lutron Electronics founder Joel Spira has been inducted into the Lehigh County (Pa.) Bicentennial Hall of Fame, an honor delivered by the area where the company has been based since its founder in 1961.
CEDIA announced Monday that Don Stewart, the Executive Vice President and a corporate partner/principal of Stewart Filmscreen, will receive the 2011 CEDIA Lifetime Achievement Award. Stewart will receive the award this September at CEDIA Expo in Indianapolis, during the Electronic Lifestyles Awards Banquet.
Coming out of the obnoxious mid-term election season in which we are all slogged with horrible political commercials, it is exciting to hear that Lutron is launching a "National Energy-Saving Awareness Campaign" with TV commercials.
Finally, some TV commercials we will all be excited to see vs. the nastiness of the election. Think about it, other than the Super Bowl, when was the last time you actually looked forward to seeing a commercial?!
The prestigious CEDIA Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Mr. Joel Spira at the annual Electronic Lifestyles Awards Banquet during CEDIA EXPO on Saturday, Sept. 25.
