While we were designing this issue of CustomRetailer, I kept thinking back to the great leaps and bounds the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association has made in the last two decades

I have just returned from a press conference designed to promote and provide a sneak peek of the annual IFA consumer electronics show that will be held September 4-9 at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds in Berlin, Germany (see Our People page 12).

During 2009 many of you will be rethinking about how you do business.  With the current state of the economy,  your business model and action plan will be more pivotal than ever.  Keeping current resources a fingertip away in one  easy to navigate package is vital.

It’s pretty clear that what started as a slowdown in home sales and led to a meltdown of financial institutions, followed by a massive Federal bailout, has now begun to hit Main Street. Now, nearly 90 days later, no one is sure how long it will last or how deep the dive will be. As I returned from this year’s CEDIA EXPO I thought about all of the great conversations I had and components and systems I saw, and I was reminded of why we all strive so hard in this business. Not only is it the need to succeed and of course make money, but also the fact that every day we have the opportunity to go that extra mile to get satisfaction from a job well-done, no matter what position we hold in the custom integration channel.
