Z-Wave Alliance Looks to the Future at California Summit
The Z-Wave Alliance last week held its annual Fall Summit in Carlsbad, Calif., with the theme "The Future Powered by Z-Wave."
Linear LLC hosted the event, which included an interactive tour of Linear's Carlsbad facility. Those in attendance, the alliance said, included representatives of the security, consumer electronics, energy management and home automation markets.
The purposes of the summit, the alliance said, were to "celebrate the growing domination of Z-Wave technology; recognize the Alliance's 10 years of operation; collaborate with other Alliance members on cutting-edge marketing and product development strategies; demonstrate new products and services to attending media; and hear a keynote presentation on the state of the smart home market from world-renowned analyst firm Frost & Sullivan."
Activities included a Z-Wave board meeting, plenary sessions, presentations from social media expert Matt Walker and RF expert David Zima, and social events.
Exhibitors included Jasco, Kwikset, Telguard, IR-Nexia, and PlumChoice.
"Without question, Z-Wave is the predominant technology in the smart home market," Mark Walters, chairman of the Z-Wave Alliance, said as part o the announcement.
"Our product-level interoperability, backwards compatibility, dominance in the security industry and soon in the telecommunications provider segment, along with new capabilities such as our IP technology, are strong indications that Z-Wave's future is extremely bright."
