Distributors Provide the Missing Pieces to Your Business Puzzle
Staying ahead in the consumer electronics business means having one eye open at all times for the latest trends and business opportunities. There are several ways to do this, but one very important element is establishing a strong relationship with your distributor.
Distributors today are so much more than box pushers. They have evolved into a invaluable resource for education, training, information and support. And they are doing this primarily through special events and expos—one-day or multi-day conferences that offer everything from product demos, business-growth seminars, hands-on learning programs and much more. These events can be used simply for knowledge gain, or specifically to earn continuing education credits toward your specialty.
To make it easier for our readers, we asked several of your distribution partners what product-presentation events/expos they have planned for 2014, and what will be offered there besides buying opportunities. And if they are not holding shows, we asked what services will be available this year, besides buying opportunities, to help you maintain profitable businesses.
Here’s what we learned:
Michael Flink, President
We’re set to host 48 ADI Expo events across North America this year. The ADI Expo Training Series has taken place for over 20 years, and reaches more than 12,000 dealers.
Free for industry professionals, the ADI Expo offers education on the latest technologies and introduces dealers to a broad array of leading manufacturers. Dealers can participate in hands-on learning, attend industry-accredited training seminars, meet with manufacturers and network with industry peers.
In addition to the Expos, ADI conducts over 1,500 training events each year at our 99 branch locations. We believe it’s our responsibility to provide dealers with the training they need to win new business, and with training facilities located in our branches we are able to provide valuable learning experiences.

The E4 AV Tour! E4 is a free, full-day program with an intense educational focus that allows our partners to earn valuable InfoComm International CTS RUs while networking with the industry’s top manufacturers.
E4 is a highly specialized one-day dealer event that, over the past five years, has traveled to countless cities to serve the product, technical and business training needs of thousands of resellers and installers.
Our tour will make a total of four stops in 2014. We just completed an event on March 11 in Dallas. The next one will take place on April 23 in Orlando, Fla., where for the first time, we will be co-locating on the ISA International Sign Expo show floor. The remaining two events will be hosted in Boston on Oct. 3 and Washington D.C./Bethesda on Oct. 17.
Almo also offers several integration services, the newest of which is a Content Creation Services program for digital signage, interactive and video production. The new services allow our partners to offer content creation as part of their initial installation and as an ongoing maintenance package to the overall sale. As the first distributor to offer our own private label content creation services, we are giving our integrators the ability to provide a true end-to-end digital signage solution for their customers and enjoy increased margins from the services revenue.
In addition, Almo also has a removal/reinstallation warranty program and video wall installation and maintenance services.
