Yaron Walter wants you to control your doorbell from your smartphone with Meeba
Remember when you first realized you could change your cellphone’s ringtone to your favorite pop song? Entrepreneur Yaron Walter wants to bring that feeling back, but this time with doorbells. Yes, doorbells. Walter, who heads the company Walter Applications, which specializes in the development of start-ups in the global market, is currently raising capital to continue the development of Meeba, the “super smart” doorbell.
Meeba connects to Wi-Fi and allows users to customize their doorbell rings from anything from Hip-Hop to movie soundtracks. You can even compose your own tune or use your own voice as your own personalized ring.
Walter says the idea for Meeba sprang from his love of music. "Before we got married, my wife and I lived in a studio apartment.... We did not receive visitors because we were ashamed of the size of our home, and we also did not have a doorbell. After we got married we moved to a bigger apartment. On the day we moved, my wife rang the doorbell. I hadn't heard a doorbell ring for some 10 years and suddenly it dawned on me: I love music, so why not have the music I love in my doorbell and listen to my favorite song while making other people happy?" Walter said in a statement.
Perhaps one of the most interesting aspects of Meeba is that it can be used by those who cannot hear at all. Used in conjunction with mobile phone technology, Meeba allows those who can’t hear the ring of a doorbell, the opportunity to be alerted when someone arrives at their doorstep.
Meeba runs on long-life batteries and does not require professional installation. It is currently in the development stages and is looking to include a camera that will allow users to see who is ringing their door from their smartphone. Meeba is currently raising money for development through crowdfunding.
