On Tuesday, the Yamaha MusicCast wireless speaker (WX-030) made its retail debut. The company described the speaker as a versatile unite that can be used as a standalone music system or can be linked to other MusicCast products to create a dynamic in-home sound system. Using a home’s WiFi network or Bluetooth connection, the MusicCast wireless speaker streams music, and it offers intuitive control through a free iOS and Android app.
The MusicCast wireless speaker is the first to be introduced as part of the Yamaha MusicCast wireless multiroom audio system, which was unveiled in August, the company said. It’s one of more than 20 MusicCast-enabled products that will be made available by the end of 2015. Other products in the line will include AV receivers, more wireless speakers, soundbars, Hi-Fi components, and powered monitor systems, Yamaha said.
“You only need a single MusicCast speaker and our free MusicCast app to get started with a great-sounding audio system for your home,” Bob Goedken, general manager, AV division, Yamaha, said in a statment. “You can add more MusicCast speakers over time or link to a MusicCast AV receiver or sound bar to unleash your home theater sound. Now any of your audio content can be played throughout the home wirelessly.”
The MusicCast wireless speaker is available in solid black or white with silver accents. It’s available exclusively at authorized Yamaha dealers for $249.95.
