Vizio Boosts Feature Sets in 2019 Top-Range, Entry-Level 4K TVs
Vizio launches at retail today its broadest array of 4K smart TVs, boasting across-the-board performance improvements in premium features such as peak brightness and full-array dimming.
Two categorizations mark Vizio’s P-Series, which come in 65- and 75-inch versions. The company’s P-SeriesQuantum X 4K HDR line, the top-line successor series to last year’s P-Series Quantum range, offers Vizio’s next-gen version of quantum dot technology, Quantum Color, with specs of up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness in the line’s flagship 75-inch model, as well as 480 local dimming zones. And the company’s P-Series now uses quantum dot technology and offers up to 240 local dimming zones - twice as many as in 2018 models with comparable pricing, Vizio says.

The M-Series Quantum, which, with 43- to 65-inch screen sizes, is the step-up range from Vizio’s newest entry-level V-Series, now benefits from quantum dot technology, and its backlight structure now echoes last year’s P-Series, offering up to 90 local-dimming zones, almost double that of 2018, as well as 600 nits peak brightness via UltraBright 600 technology.
The V-Series, with screen sizes ranging from 40 to 75 inches, supplants Vizio’s former E-Series as the basic TV line, and offers Dolby Vision support and the benefits of a smart TV; on select models it offers 400 nits peak brightness.
Throughout all of the company’s 2019 TV models, Vizio has include its SmartCast 3.0 platform, which will soon support Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit – making it compatible with Apple’s Siri besides being compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.

Vizio said that these AirPlay 2 and HomeKit features, rolling out in the coming months, would also be available to Vizio smart TVs dating back to 2016 models via software updates.
SmartCast 3.0 is Vizio’s latest smart TV platform, providing access to content including Netflix, Hulu and CBS All Access. It will enable viewers to stream, control and share content from iOS and Android devices to the TVs.
SmartCast 3.0 also includes the Vizio WatchFree streaming service that helps cord-cutters avoid monthly subscription fees. The content even includes certain repackaged material from sources ordinarily available as part of paid subscription services, such as CNN and Comedy Central.
Sizes and pricing range from $239.99 for the 40-inch V-Series models up to $3,499.99 for the 75-inch P-Series Quantum X model.

The company’s 2019 soundbar lineup, also introduced, adds some premium features this year, as well as a wider selection of price-point choices.
Highlights include the 5.1.4-channel 36-inch SB36514 (available in Summer via Amazon for $699.99) and the 3.1.2-channel 36-inch SB36312 (available in Summer at Best Buy for $469.99) Premium Home Theater Sound Systems with Dolby Atmos, designed with discrete upward-firing speakers.
The SB2020 20-inch sound bar ($69.99), which uses DTS Virtual:X technology to create virtualized height and surround effects, is available now at Walmart and will be available in Summer at retailers including Best Buy and Target. It is designed for portability, and can double as a Bluetooth speaker in applications other than for TV sound enhancement, says the company.
