VIZIO and the American Film Institute team up for AFI FEST 2015
For the second year in a row, VIZIO will collaborate with the American Film Institute in a partnership that will be highlighted by the sponsorship of the AFI FEST 2015. The groups said the partnership is designed to celebrate the art of filmmaking and connect filmmaking with the at-home entertainment experience.
At this year’s AFI FEST 2015, VIZIO will display its Reference Series 4K Ultra HD collection, which it said is the industry’s first-ever to complete High Dynamic Range television to include Dolby vision playback technology.
VIZIO will also host the closing night gala at the AFI FEST, which will feature a red carpet celebration and the world premiere presentation of The Big Short, a film directed by Adam McKay that is based on Michael Lewis’s book of the same name. The film stars Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, and Brad Pitt. And VIZIO will also host a soon-to-be-announced special event in the Dolby Theater at the event.
"For the second year, VIZIO is thrilled to collaborate with AFI FEST and merge the worlds of technology and filmmaking," Matt McRae, VIZIO Chief Technology Officer, said in a statement. "With the unprecedented picture quality and audio advancements of our Reference Series collection, VIZIO is committed to supporting the vision of cinematographers, directors of photography and directors to ensure the experience they intended for the cinema, carries over to home audiences."
