Vivint Camera Sends Notifications When Someone is Lurking Nearby
Vivint Smart Home has added a new security camera to its lineup with the ability to sense when someone is “lurking” around your property. The Vivint Outdoor Camera Pro with Smart Sentry is an AI-powered security camera that works to protect your home through advanced analytics designed to differentiate who is a harmless passerby and who might be a potential threat.
To get started, the user sets a parameter around their home that he or she wants to be protected by Smart Sentry. They also choose length of time they feel is appropriate from one to 90 seconds. The camera will then pick up people (not pets or cars) that are hanging around a little too close and a little too long.
If the person remains in the vicinity longer than the dedicated length of time, a red LED light and one of five warning tones (also selected by the user) will go off, and a Smart Sentry alert will be sent to the homeowner’s mobile device. From there they will be able to see a thumbnail image of the person, engage in a two-way conversation, or sound the camera’s security siren.
“Cameras are our most popular smart home product category for a reason – would-be burglars fear cameras the most of any security solution,” said Jeff Lyman, chief product officer at Vivint Smart Home. “Vivint Outdoor Camera Pro goes beyond awareness by introducing a new layer of protection that helps deter and prevent crime.”
The Vivint Outdoor Camera Pro produces a 140-degree view, night vision, and a 4K HDR sensor delivering up to 1080p live streaming and recording, even while zoomed in. Users will be able to get a clear view of faces, license plates, and other critical details directly from their mobile device. All of that information can then be stored and shared through the Vivint Smart Home app. The app also allows users to select the frequency of notifications from Smart Sentry as well.
