Beam's Clean House
For C-tailers looking to expand their array of products and services for customers with new home constructions, central vacuuming systems should be a natural, though they're usually overlooked. That's a shame, because upon closer inspection, adding central vacuum service and installation to the business offerings can translate into a quick and relatively easy revenue stream.
Or so says Beam Industries, a central vac manufacturer based in Webster City, Iowa. The company offers custom install businesses what it claims is a sure-fire way of extending their scope of services into the realm of central vac sales and service. For a relatively small inventory commitment, Beam furnishes its retail partners with a comprehensive sales and training package, plus everything needed to properly merchandise and sell its central vac products in a retail setting. Moreover, to make certain that its products consistently represent first rate performance and value, Beam also provides an extensive hands-on installation training program for technicians. Yet at the same time, Beam maintains that the learning curve for technicians is reasonably easy.
"We have territory reps who will assist you on your first couple of installations, or until you understand how to install it properly," said Beam Industries Manager of Business Development Bob Olive. "The typical tech [person] tends to pick it up after observing one installation. It's just that intuitive."
With far reaching economic uncertainty, and a rather pitted landscape on the investment horizon, homeowners today are eagerly looking for ways to ensure and retain, if not boost, the value of their property. Just as some savvy homeowners will opt for stylish, high-end appliances in their kitchens, or devote a living room or den to home theater, or have a state of the art security system hardwired into their proverbial castles, more and more Americans are exploring the possibilities of having a central vac system installed. What a central air conditioning system is compared to a window unit, central vac is to the conventional canister or upright vacuum.
