URC’s New Flagship Remote Debuts
URC has introduced its newest flagship learning remote geared at the retail channel: the URC-R40 (MSRP: $169), or as its packaging references it, My Favorite Remote. It has begun selling on amazon.com and will soon enter other retail channels, said the company.
The device is endowed with a full-color OLED display that uses less power than more-common LCD displays and has a wider viewing angle. It also features an on-screen “wizard” for simplified setup by do-it-yourselfers without needing a PC, and can control up to 18 components.
The remote, carrying a one-year warranty and powered by 4 AA batteries, is engineered to allow users to organize up to 48 favorite channels into groups, with each group consisting of 12 channel icons viewable six to a screen.
Further, it can run macros with one button press, has a low-battery warning feature and also has a Sofa Mode that powers it down when it gets stuck between the cushions.
The URC-R40 was unveiled to the press during a comprehensive presentation on URC’s new Total Control System of “Native to the Network” home control and audio products.
