URC will hold several “accelerator challenge” events during the upcoming CEDIA EXPO, with $3,000 in cash prizes up for grabs each day.
Using URC Accelerator Software, competitors will be asked to program an eight-zone Total Control automation system under URC’s supervision. Three winners will be chosen daily based on top speed and quality of programming. First prize will take home $1,500, second place gets $1,000, and the third place winner will receive $500, and they must be present at the time of the announcement to claim their prize.
“This is the perfect opportunity for URC and our Total Control dealers to show off their skills and demonstrate the power and speed of our Accelerator programming software at the same time,” Cat Toomey, URC director of marketing, said in a statement. “Accelerator Challenge promises to be a wildly fun event, but the payoff is as big as Texas.”
According to URC’s statement on the challenges, participants who sign up in advance will get advance notice of what the challenges will entail prior to CEDIA and will be given time slots first at the show. Walk-ins are welcome, but do not receive advance challenge info, and time slots may or may not be available. Competitors can win one prize per day but are only eligible to take home one top prize of $1,500 during the three days.
The 'Accelerator Challenge' will take place Thursday, October 15 and Friday, October 16 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Saturday, October 17 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at URC booth #5028. Winners will be announced on Thursday and Friday at 4 p.m., and on Saturday at 3 p.m.
