Universal Remote Control Rebrands As URC
Universal Remote Control is taking the wraps off a new logo to draw attention to its rebranding as URC.
“We’re essentially renaming ourselves, but ‘remote’ is still our middle name, and the most important product we make; we’re not walking away from that,” declared the company’s director of marketing, Jon Sienkiewicz. “But by calling ourselves remote, we feel we’re really limiting ourselves – especially if you’re talking to people who don’t know the company. We’re growing out of the home theater and into the whole house in control – spreading our influence beyond our core competency in controlling home entertainment systems into controlling the whole house,” he said in explaining the reason for the transition and fresh logo design.
The new logo was crafted internally and has a tagline of “Control the Experience.” Sienkiewicz said that it would gradually be filtered into packaging starting within the next 30 days. “We keep a short safety stock and change boxes over on the custom installation side pretty fast,” he said, adding that on the consumer side, the transition will take longer.
