Tivoli Marks 10 Years with Model 10 Table Radio, Design Contest
Tivoli Audio will celebrate its tenth anniversary this year with the introduction in Summer of its smallest-footprint table radio to date: the Model 10. The company is also sponsoring a billboard design contest that it is promoting in all its global markets that will culminate in the winner’s design being featured on a billboard in New York City’s Times Square through the month of December and up to and including New Year’s Eve.
The new radio, which will sell in the U.S. at $199.99 and be available with an optional matching stereo speaker, is similar in looks to the company’s NetWorks Internet radio system but its chassis is slightly smaller.
The 10, besides offering the reception capabilities and aesthetic appeal of the Model One, Tivoli’s first table radio, has additional features that Tom DeVesto, the company’s founder and CEO, said amplify the versatility of the original. It is an AM/FM dual-alarm clock radio with an adjustable equalization system that lets the listener set his or her own preferences in treble, bass, loudness and balance. All controls are accessible with either the top-mounted rotary dial or by a remote and all functions are readable on a backlit LCD display/menu screen. The 10 also carries an auxiliary input for CD, MP3 players and iPhones/iPods and a DC input so that it may be used while boating.
The Model 10 comes in a wide selection of furniture-grade wood and high-gloss finishes; a special Celebration Collection, consisting of aluminum and anodized aluminum finishes, is being released to commemorate the 10th anniversary.
The company is also issuing the Model 10+, which can receive global stations in DAB, DAB+, DMB or FM; pricing for the 10+ has not been announced.
At the same time it releases the Model 10, Tivoli will also offer a $119 standalone iPod/iPhone universal docking/recharging station – the Connector – in an array of finishes that match every finish in the entire Tivoli line, said DeVesto. The Connector comes with nine adapters to fit a variety of Apple mobile devices, and it is designed with an unusual back support for the docked device – a wheel mechanism that is forward- and backward-adjustable to ensure that the device doesn’t wobble when docked.
