The Drone Rodeo will let you test drones out in the desert at CES 2016
At CES 2016 this week, the Drone Rodeo will give attendees the opportunity to get some hands on experience with the latest advancements in the drone industry. Competition drone races, hands-on experience, special product announcements, and more—out in the desert—will all happen out in the Drone Rodeo.
This experience, an unofficial extension of CES 2016, focuses on providing hands-on flight experiences for the media and industry insiders, as well as a peek at the “latest and greatest consumer flying technology on the planet.”
The Drone Rodeo will take place at the Clark County Shooting Complex on Tuesday, January 5. Organizers say the event is an opportunity for manufacturers, suppliers, and supporters of the unmanned aerial vehicle industry to “soar—literally” in the desert, outside of the restricted airspace inside of Las Vegas proper.
"It's impossible to truly show the capabilities of a new UAV inside of a flight cage at Las Vegas Convention Center," Matt Sloane, Executive Producer of the Drone Rodeo, said in a statement. "This event truly gives drone companies the ability to show off their new products in the environment they were built for.”
UAV companies that will be participating in the Drone Rodeo include 3D Robotics, Parrot, senseFLY, Flypro, and more. Plus, attendees will be able to witness the action of a “no-holds-barred” drone race put on by the Aerial Sports League (formerly Game of Drones).
"Drone racing is an emerging sport, yes, but there are already some incredibly talented people in this space," Sloane said. "I'm looking forward to some seriously heart-stopping action on that course.”
CES 2016 exhibitors and media can sign up for the Drone Rodeo here. The event will run from noon until 5pm on Tuesday. Shuttle buses will pick up registered attendees at the Mandalay Bay Tour Lobby at 11am, Noon, 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm, and return shuttles will depart from the Clark County Shooting Complex back to the Mandalay hourly starting at 1pm.
