At its booth in the Kay Bailey Hutchison Center in Dallas this week (#2515), Terra Speakers had a number of new and updated products on display, including the company's AC (All Climate) Five Line—an updated twist on its line of all-weather speakers.
But what had Terra's Will Hallett most excited is a new series of two- and three-way speakers that were designed and engineered by Oscar-nominated sound engineer Dan Wallin—an established Hollywood figure who's had a hand in over 500 big-screen productions including Up, Star Trek, and Mrs. Doubtfire to name a few.
Wallin began designing the model a decade ago to “provide the quality, cleanliness, and accuracy he found lacking in the studio monitors he had encountered,” explained Hallett.
The result is the Wallin Monitor Series by Terra Speakers that are available in two- and three-way models: the WM2 and WM3 respectively. The drivers are handmade on site and produce “pristine” sound, Hallett said.
They're currently in use in studios responsible for producing dozens of films and albums, many of which have been noted and rewarded for their “superior attention to sound,” Hallett said.
As for its AC Five Line series, on display at CEDIA 2015 as well, the updated line of all-weather speakers now comes in three sizes, and all are designed to conjoin with other models in the series as “a means of creating customizable design solutions,” Hallett explained.
