After successful Kickstarter campaign, the Nyrius Smart Outlet becomes available
Early backers of the Nyrius Smart Outlet can expect to see their devices arrive in the near future after the company announced its successful Kickstarter campaign. The device, which converts existing electronics into manageable smart home devices, is also now available for purchase to all consumers.
Nyrius explained that the Smart Outlet transforms any outlet into a Bluetooth-enabled one, which will allow users to control any plugged-in device via its iOS or Android companion app. Users can control up to three Smart Outlets with the iOS device and seven through Android. The range of controlled products includes coffee makers, lamps, space heaters, irons, and stereo systems, among the hundreds of possible appliances.
The Smart Outlet does not require a hub or an extraneous setup process, Nyrius said. Users simply plug the Smart Outlet into an existing outlet, plug the electronic device or small appliance into the Smart Outlet, and control them wirelessly via the smartphone app. Among the features contained within the app are:
- Schedule Electronics, which lets users create a custom timer on the app to turn the device on at a specific time or date
- Turn Connected Devices On & Off, which lets users easily turn electronics or small appliances on or off via the app
- Proximity Control, which can detect when the room is no longer occupied and will automatically turn all connected appliances off.
The Smart Outlet joins Nyrius’ Smart LED Bulb in its suite of connected home devices. The Smart Outlet is available now through the Nyrius website for $39.99, and the companion app is available for free through the iOS and Android app stores.
