Spending on TVs Expected to Drop
The next casualty of America’s downsizing economy may very well be big TVs, as consumers look for smaller TVs at lower prices. That’s according to a analyst reports, as cited by Fortune magazine.
Analysts from Longbow Research and iSuppli said that demand is dropping, supply is rising and credit, housing and other economic crunches are keeping consumers from buying huge TVs. Fortune compares it to the similar drop in demand for SUVs and other huge cars.
Meanwhile, the research and consulting firm DisplaySearch on Thursday released a report detailing what features TV manufacturers need to add in order to continue growing. According to DisplaySearch’s “TV Evolution: Specifications, Applications & Strategies,” both higher resolution and expanded broadband, Internet capability are among the features consumers will be expecting in the coming years.
