SpeakerCraft highlighted several new product directions that it will focus on through 2011 and beyond, on the eve of the CEDIA Expo, which opens Thursday.
It is adding many more models in the Profile form factor to the eight Profile-series in-ceiling/in-wall architectural speakers that bowed in 2010, which will bring the design to the company’s top 45 SKUs, the majority of which will ship by the fourth quarter. The series, in addition to offering a flangeless appearance once the grille is in place, said Jeremy Burkhardt, president, has embedded neodymium magnets in the flange and, in select models, uses the company’s AIM pivoting woofer and tweeter technology. There is also an option of using a square grille where cosmetically applicable, for all in-ceiling Profile models. Prices range from $99 to several thousand dollars per pair, he added.
The new Seamless speaker range, designed for what Burkhardt characterized as “an underserved market,” was announced. The speakers are invisible under paint plaster, wallpaper and stucco, are designed for high-end installations and use Live-wall technology, developed together with Bay Audio’s Ira Friedman. The series consists of rectangular satellites and subwoofers whose entire surface moves inside the wall like a driver cone. The Model Full-range 1 was unveiled at an SRP of $800 and a complementary subwoofer, which requires external amplification, debuted at $1,200.
In SpeakerCraft’s Roots box-speaker series, two new subwoofers were introduced. The Model 310 ($849) has a 300-watt digital amp, and the Model 208 ($699) is an 8-inch sub with a 200-watt digital amp. They are available in high-gloss black, red, white, yellow or silver.
The Vital Class D amplifier line saw the addition of the Models 1250 ($1,199), a 12-channel 50-watt digital amp, and 850, an eight-channel, 50-watt unit. The 70-volt Model 170V ($799) six-channel 60-watt SKU has been optimized for commercial and industrial use.
