Speaker and Sub Roundup
Definitive Technology’s UIW Reference Ceiling Speaker II ($599 projected retail, available fall) is intended for use as an in-ceiling front main left, center or right channel speaker, as well as a rear or side surround speaker; it also can be used as a left or right speaker in a stereo system. It features a totally non-resonant sealed medite enclosure, forward-angled D’Appolito driver array, pressure-coupled planar low bass radiators and dual angled baffles.
Artison’s RCC 600 In-Wall Subwoofer ($2,000 MSRP) is reactance-canceling and vibration-free. Its Dual Driver Motor assembly and “edgeless surround” technology provide lush bass and full-bodied sound; its separate rackmountable 600-watt, Class-D amplifier uses Digital Signal Processing software to allow for a customized setup. The RCC 600 measures 23.5 x 9.5 inches after installation.
Paradigm expanded its high-end Reference collection with the first product in its Millenia Series, the six-driver, 2.5-way Millenia 200 floorstanding speaker ($1,299/pr. FMV). The slimmest offering from Paradigm to date, it’s available in black chrome or polished aluminum finish.
