SoCal Technology & Business Summit Grows, Drives Industry Momentum
The Southern California Technology & Business Summit, held in LA and Orange County in May, again attracted crowds. In its eighth year, the Summit brought in more than 550 people, including 425 dealers, along with exhibitors, reps, and industry associates. The Summit is a cooperative effort between a number of independent manufacturer rep firms based in various territories throughout the country. The groups describe them as a business development events intended to benefit integrators and exhibitors of all sizes.
The groups involved in the planning and coordination of the events include AV Partners, ByDesign Vision & Sound, Calwest Marketing, Chris Dixon Company, I Rep Green, Morris Tait Associates, Paul Collins Group, ProWest Sales, and Studio Décor.
Exhibiting rep firms, manufacturers, and factor staff members showcased products from more than 100 different companies. Among them was a Dolby Atmos 4K UHD demo, which attracted a majority of the attendees, the groups said.
Beyond the products that were on display, though, education acts as a major draw. The Tech Summit again partnered with CEDIA to present a number of educational seminars, some of which qualified for Continuing Education Unit credits.
The Tech Summit also featured live demos. Craig Eggers from Dolby Laboratories returned for a Dolby Atmos 4K Ultra High-Definition demo. “It still surprises me that many integrators are not properly presenting an upgrade path for their customers,” Eggers said in a statement. “Dolby Atmos is one of them, but I encourage them to truly show their customers how incredible systems can be with so many great new technologies available. The Technology and Business Summit is a perfect format to demonstrate, educate, and build business.”
Tech Summit Founder Mark Cichowski said the purpose of the event is connecting attendees and creating a personalized and local network.
“A main focus of the Tech Summit is value,” Cichowski said in the statement. “Integrators, manufacturers and reps are all busy and, in order to grow, we need to bring business to each other on a personalized, local level. The Tech Summit events complement national events and provide a format where integrators, exhibitors, reps and industry associates can really get to know each other, share ideas, and start to build mutual business. In addition, we are continuing to increase our collaboration with CEDIA to bring added value to regional events, overall.”
The Florida Tech Summit, the next leg of this year’s events, will be held at the Westin Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale on June 14 and at the Renaissance at Sea World in Orlando on June 16.
