Sharp Entering 3D TV Market
Sharp Corp. this week announced Monday that it will enter the 3D TV market, with the world's first four-color 3D LCD TVs.
The 3D capability combines several Sharp LCD technologies, including the Quattro four-color LCD system, the UV2A technology, FRED technology and side-mount scanning LED backlight technology. The TVs will work with special 3D glasses.
According to Engadget, TVs will become available in Japan this summer, before arriving in the U.S. and in other markets later this year. The company's Japanese 3D Web site has already launched.
