SensorSphere, the rolling security ball, to start crowdfunding campaign in early 2016
Is it possible you could only need one security camera to monitor your entire house? SensorSphere, a security camera that looks like it belongs in the next Star Wars movie, is looking to be that camera. SensorSphere is a Wi-Fi connected robotic ball that is able to shift its center of gravity and roll from room to room. The sphere can be controlled remotely through its corresponding mobile app.
Users will receive a notification on their mobile device if an unusual temperature, humidity or gas level is detected. Its motion detection functionality will trigger video recording automatically. Captured data will be stored in the cloud.
Users will be able to customize their SensorSphere with different exteriors. Available models will include an HD camera with a 90-degree wide-angle lens, thermal imaging and night vision cameras, a microphone, a speaker and sensors for temperature, humidity, smoke and gas.
SensorSphere states that the ball is designed to help users protect their home while saving money, as they won’t have to pay for multiple security cameras or devices. The company says it will be affordable in comparison to similar products.
An Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign for the SensorSphere is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2016. Shipping is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2016. The device will appear this January at CES 2016 in Las Vegas.
The ball is 4.5 inches in diameter, 1.2 lbs and will be capable of wireless charging.
