Savant Announces Google Assistant Support
Diving even deeper into the realm of voice control, Savant announced today that it has added “seamless compatibility” between its own smart home ecosystem and Google Assistant.
Voice commands are nothing new to the smart home tech manufacturer. Back in 2015, they launched their Pro Remote, which gave users a way to control their homes by barking commands into a universal remote. Additionally, the company has already integrated support for Amazon Alexa, so naturally the next step is to do the same with Google—which brings us to today.
In a statement, they explained that consumers will be able to capitalize on the Google Assistant integration in a number of ways. For starters, they’ll be able to set their Savant Scenes through a simple voice command. They can also control nearly every other aspect of their smart and connected home, including adjusting entertainment, lighting, climate controls, shading, their TV, and much more.
“Our objective is to deliver the best smart home experience along with leading edge innovations that bring added value for our network of integrators and their clients,” CEO Robert Madonna said in the statement. “Working with Google and bringing their voice technology to Savant homes accomplishes both without question.”
Setup of the Google Assistant action appears to be simple and intuitive. Users can create their Savant Scene, enable the Savant Action through the Google Assistant or Google Home App, and then link their account. Google will then discover Savant as an Action that can be accessed via a voice command.
The integration is based on cloud-to-cloud communication between the companies' services, which means the user can initiate, schedule, edit, and/or delete a Savant Scene while retaining complete access to Google’s voice functionality.
Support for Google Assistant is available now.
