Samsung to Debut Tizen-Based TVs at CES
Samsung's new TVs, set for reveal at International CES next week, will contain something new: the company's long-in-the-works Tizen operating system, which throughout its long development has been mostly associated with smartphones. Now, it's the basis of Samsung's new smart TV platform.
The Tizen-based TVs will be able to search for Samsung mobile devices, allowing easy sharing of content.
“Building our Smart Platform around Tizen is a groundbreaking step towards a much more intelligent and integrated system,” Won Jin Lee, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, said as part of the announcement.
“Tizen not only enriches the entertainment experience for our customers today, but unlocks great potential for the future in home entertainment.”
Samsung will hold a press conference Monday during CES' press day, while CEO Boo-Keun Yoon will deliver a keynote.
