Russound Completes Spotify Integration, Announces a New Hire
Russound made a series of announcements Thursday on a conference call with media, heading into the ISE event in Amsterdam.
The company announced that it has completed implementation of Spotify into his products, which includes Spotify Connect availability in the XStream X5 Controller/Streamer, the DMS-3.1 Digital Media Streamer, and the upcoming MCA-88XStreaming Multizone Controller/Amplifier.
Spotify integration was announced late last year. On the call, Russound's Charlie Porrett said that Russound is in talks with other services to add to the currently available Spotify, Pandora and TuneIn Radio.
“Streaming is more than just the future of audio – it’s the present, and Spotify is the most popular streaming service in the business,” Charlie Porritt, Russound’s CEO, said in a statement. “With Spotify on board, our customers are able to give their clients their number one choice for audio, and our MyRussound app makes accessing and using the service as easy as operating a light switch.”
"We're continuing to expand who we're integrating our products with," Porrett said.
In addition, Russound announced an update to its MyRussound app, " bringing an enhanced level of functionality" to Russound’s C-series and X5 controllers. The app is available for iOS and Android.
Russound announced the arrival of the KNX-RIO-1 gateway, connected Russound's RIO open IP protocol with KNX, a standard popular in Europe.
“The KNX standard and the RIO protocol confirm how interoperability can improve the work of our installation partners, and the enjoyment of their customers,” noted Russound CEO Charlie Porritt. “By creating a communications link between the two with Russound’s new KNX-RIO-1, we’ve integrated the best technologies available for seamless whole-house audio configuration and control.”
And Russound announced that Joshua Cooper, a veteran of the company, has returned to Russound as director of marketing. Cooper worked for Russound in the 1990s and had done consulting work with the company in the meantime.
