Russound Collage Due for CEDIA Expo Debut
Russound, at next week’s CEDIA Expo, plans to introduce what director of product management Andy Lewis terms “a game changer for us”: the Collage IP-over-powerline audio distribution system.
“This is not the traditional black-box system, Lewis explains. “It is a multi-source/multi-zone system with built-in intercom functionality among other networking attributes. It is a bridge to PC-based content in a distributed audio system.”
The system uses a media manager component along with amplified keypads that also display information including metadata from various source components and enables simplified switching to a different source. Each keypad also has an FM tuner, a sleep timer and an alarm clock.
The company plans to have working demonstrations of its Collage system at its Expo booth and will also conduct technical demos in its Hyatt suite.
“This product will resonate well, in this economically tough year, with installers,” predicts Lewis. “It’s just what the doctor ordered for retrofit opportunities.”
