RTI begins shipping KX3 in-wall controller
Remote Technologies Incorporated (RTI) has released a hybrid device that combines an in-wall touchscreen controller with a control processor for “more cost-effective setups,” the company explained. The new RTI KX3 3.5-inch in-wall touchpanel keypad is ideal for homes, classrooms, and conferences rooms, RTI said.
"Our new KX3 in-wall controller is designed to give integrators amazing power and flexibility, while providing the user with an elegant, intuitive control interface," Brett Stokke, director of communications, RTI, said in a statement. "With audio intercom support and other advanced functionality, the KX3 will perform beautifully as part of a larger RTI control system, while commercial settings such as a classroom can take advantage of its built-in control processor for an incredible all-in-one solution."
The new RTI KX3 has a 3.5-inch color touchpanel, a proximity sensor that wakes the unit up as the user approaches it, and room status LEDs to indicate a room’s availability for a meeting.
RTI said increased installation flexibility is the result of a number of features including wired 10/100 Base-T Ethernet, and wireless Ethernet capabilities for viewing video from network security cameras and performing remote programming updates. Other features include an astronomical clock for time-based events, an embedded 2.4 GHz ZigBee antenna for connectivity with RTI wireless remotes, six voltage sense ports, four relays, and a camera to accommodate the integrated video intercom functionality.
