Roon Service to Debut in Munich
Roon Labs, from the company behind the Sooloos control system, will debut its first product, called "Roon," at the upcoming Munich High End 2015 event.
Roon is described by the company as "a software service that redefines how music lovers search through, interact with, and explore their music collections and subscription services, in one unified interface." The serve searches for audio files in the user's library and creates a "digital magazine" from all of the information about the music.
Roon has also partnered with TIDAL at launch. Third party hardware partners at launch include Auralic, dCS, Linn, Meridian Audio, and PS Audio.
“Roon brings back the feel of owning music, the compelling presentation of the total album,” Enno Vandermeer, CEO of Roon Labs, said in a statement.
“Think of the gate fold sleeve of the vinyl era, with big fullcolor panels of artwork and photographs, plus the inner sleeve filled with lyrics, credits, and other information. It added layers of depth and dimension to music. Roon delivers all of that, but updates it by building links between all the information so you can explore your collection like never before. It connects the dots between the past, present and future of music.”
