Rega produces limited edition Queen turntable
The Sound Organisation's Rega brand was approached by rock band Queen to produce "a limited-edition, fully-licensed turntable to coincide with the release of the Queen 18-piece 180g vinyl LP boxset containing all 15 hit studio albums sourced from the original master tapes mastered by Bob Ludwig and cut at Abbey Road studios."
Inspired by Rega's RP1 turntable, the Queen by Rega Turntable features a high gloss black acrylic laminated plinth silk screened with a gold "Queen by Rega" logo; a hand-built RB101 tonearm; factory-fitted Rega Carbon moving magnet cartridge designed specifically for the RB101; low-noise low-vibration 24v synchronous high performance motor, a Queen dust cover lid badge, and a silk-screened "Queen Crest" platter from artwork created by late vocalist Freddie Mercury.
The turntable costs $650 including the tone arm and the cartridge, but Rega dealers will want to snap it up for their clients immediately. Only 2,000 of the turntables will be manufactured, and just 200 of those are headed to the U.S. market. Availability is late September and preorders are being taken now.
