QMotion awarded two automated shade patents
The U.S. Patent Office has issued two patents regarding automated shade systems to QMotion Advanced Shading Systems.
U.S. patent number 8,919,419 is for a counterbalanced motorized shade roll system and method. The inventors were QMotion CEO Willis Jay Mullet and Director of New Product Development Richard Scott Hand. The patent for QMotion's roller shade design "includes a motor, batteries and a torsion spring positioned within the roller tube as well as the method of operating such a shade," said the company in a press release. "In simple terms, QMotion’s unique roller shade design allows the torsion spring to be moved along the length of the roll tube." The company said this design "allows for an unlimited array of shade lengths and spring combinations that enables QMotion to make shades in an almost limitless array of custom sizes and provides counterbalanced energy efficiencies exclusively in the QMotion system."
Mullet is also responsible for U.S. design patent number D724,614, which is for a portion of a display screen with a "unique" graphical user interface in its iOS/Android app. Specially, it includes a window with an interactive window shade.
