ProSource is gifting their dealers a massive benefit by partnering with the web-based proposal and purchasing platform Portal within the buying groups exclusive national distributor, Expert Warehouse. Portal, a company currently enjoying a steady wave of success following the mid-summer launch of the rebranded B2B platform Portal Select, will give ProSource dealers the ability to collect, organize, and propose builds to clients against a warehouse of real-time information.
"The Expert Warehouse committee determined that a partnership with Portal was a unique opportunity to improve service to ProSource members by making it easy for members to purchase all the Expert Warehouse brands and earn additional rewards," said Dave Workman, CEO and President of ProSource. "This is a great benefit for our members and demonstrates the mutual commitment of Portal and ProSource to help both vendors and members do business with one another."
With this catalog, Portal offers a single place for dealers to research, propose, and order all of their products online. The integration to Expert Warehouse gives ProSource members access to up-to-date product data, pricing, and stock availability from the exclusive ProSource distributor.
In addition to the catalog and ordering, Portal's built-in proposal tool offers dealers a more natural way to build fast, accurate proposals without having to manage the product data and pricing.
"Portal's proposal tool allows our integration company to close deals faster and grow our business," said Andres Klein, President at Maxicon, a large ProSource integrator in South Florida. "Once a proposal is accepted by my client, being able to click a button to order products from our suppliers from a single place increases efficiency."
Good to be the King
The team at Portal has got to be feeling confident now. Sporting nearly 1.5 million SKU's, a partnership with an elite level buying group, and a warm reception from the industry at this years CEDIA, they are in a strong position for success. The business model is already bulletproof, and they are solving pain points that the former dealers themselves have experienced.
“As former dealers, we found the process of getting setup with a new supplier extremely painful. We felt that doing business in the industry should be much easier” says Kirk Chisholm, founder of Portal. “Building an industry catalog and proposal tool for dealers was only the first step to improving the process. Proposals simply laid the foundation for solving the bigger problem - Improving the product procurement experience for the entire industry.”
Building on the newly revamped Portal, Portal Select is a natural transition regarding efficiency. Their goal to improve business operations revolves around a single place for procurement mobile-friendly experience, product stock status, fast and free shipping, secure payment, and rewards.
For vendors, Portal Select provides exposure to the entire Portal dealer base, as well as a turn-key solution for order processing and reward management. Currently, Key Digital, Legrand (Nuvo & On-Q), MartinLogan, Metra, Plateau, SurgeX, Titan Networx, and Tributaries have signed on for the launch of Portal Select. Portal also offers 1% back on orders, but some Portal Select products pay more. (For instance, Legrand and Key Digital offer 2% on Portal Select items.)
At the end of the day, Portal still feels like it's shifting a gear in the industry. Their partnership with ProSource is enormous, as both parties will benefit dramatically. Although Portal doesn't exactly appear to be struggling to recruit dealers, adding more than 550 specialty retailers and custom integrators will solidify their position on top.
