Peachtree Audio Launches Speaker Crowdfunding Campaign
Peachtree Audio on Monday will lunch a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo for its latest product, which it calls deepblue2 - The Ultimate Bluetooth Speaker. The successor to the original deep blue, the deep blue 2 is described by the company as "a fully active 3-way loudspeaker with electronic crossovers and a built-in 440-watt five channel amplifier squeezed into a single 1/2 cubic foot enclosure."
The first 250 backers of the project will be able to purchase the deepblue2 for $249, compared with its retail price for around $500. And those pledging $1,000 will become beta testers for the speaker, receiving a pre-production version.
“A lot of people buy wireless speakers for their convenience and ease of use. But what’s always missing is great sound quality and deep bass.” Jonathan Derda, Peachtree’s "Ambassador of Awesome," said as part of the announcement of the effort.
“What you end up with is something convenient but uninteresting to listen to. Deepblue2 is an all-in-one wireless speaker that truly has the dynamics and deep bass of a big loudspeaker. All squeezed into an enclosure smaller than half a cubic foot! What deepblue2 can do is like trying to figure out how a bumblebee can fly. You think it shouldn’t be able to produce that much sound, but it does."

The campaign is seeking to raise $63,000 in 26 days. See the introduction here.
