Origin Acoustics debuts new line array and in-ceiling subwoofers at CEDIA Expo
A year into its existence, Origin Acoustics finds itself in prime position to push the architectural audio industry in new directions. CEO Jeremy Burkhardt told media gathered in the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas for the 2015 CEDIA Expo that Origin, on the back of its tool-less installation technology, has made its way into 50 countries and has partnered with more than 2,000 dealers within the last year.
"This no tool installation concept…has taken off," Burkhardt said.
But Origin brought more than just a company update to Dallas. The company introduced a number of new products during CEDIA's first official press conference. Among the products to launch: new in-ceiling woofers, the new Theater Collection line, and new entry-level models in the Origin Directors Collection, which Burkhardt called the company's best-sellling product in year one.
The new in-ceiling subwoofers are designed to be installed during new construction, according to Origins, and use a bass tube to port the music into the listening area. The line comes in a dual 6” and dual 8” model. The dual 6” model is able to achieve the finish of either 4” designer recessed lighting or 6” and 8” speakers in the Director Collection, according to Origin. And Burkhardt pointed out that the subwoofers add extended bass response that drops into the 20Hz frequency range, “something I don't think any subwoofer manufacturer can claim right now,” he said. The DSUB6 and DSUB8 come with a square and round grill to match the footprint of recessed lighting systems or 6” and 89” speakers from the Director Collection.
Origins also expanded its Director Collection with three new entry-level 6” and 8” models. ““Our Director Collection now offers a vast number of solutions for every application and budget,” Burkhardt explained. ”Now with 13 premium models to choose from there are plenty of performance inceiling speaker options to choose from for every project.”
