Onkyo USA has made two key additions to its senior leadership team. Onkyo USA vice president of Sales and Business Development Joe Petrillo has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer, while industry veteran Bob Weissburg has joined the company in a newly created position as senior vice president.
Sausto, who is also the CEO, took ownership of Onkyo USA in September 2017 after a decade in senior management positions with Onkyo Corporation, including president of Onkyo China and president of Pioneer Onkyo Marketing Asia. An extremely successful entrepreneur with an eye for disrupting industry stasis via technological innovation, Sausto was one of the founding members of the Booking.com group, which was sold to The Priceline Group for $133 million, as well as Managing Director, Asia for Red Herring, the global media conglomerate that was the bible of the Silicon Valley boom.
Petrillo has been with Onkyo USA for over 16 years. During his tenure, he has helped the company solidify its position as one of the premier consumer electronic brands in North America, and strengthened its distribution portfolio with such highly regarded properties as Pioneer, Pioneer Elite, Integra, and Esoteric. Petrillo has played an instrumental role in helping the company broaden its US sales channels and manage all aspects of its distribution. Prior to joining Onkyo USA, Petrillo held sales positions with Bose Corporation and Tops Appliance City. In his new position, Petrillo will be responsible for the day-to-day operations for the company and report directly to Sausto.
Weissburg has held a variety of senior management positions at top consumer electronics companies including vice president of Home Audio for Sony Electronics where he grew Sony’s market share to number one in all major product categories. Following Sony, Weissburg served as President, Sales, and Marketing, Americas Region for D&M Holdings managing Denon, Marantz, Boston Acoustics, McIntosh and D&M Professional brands. In his new role, Weissburg will oversee all North and Latin American sales and product planning. He will report to Petrillo.
