OmniMount at CES: New Products, Merger with Ergotron
OmniMount's big news at CES 2012 in Las Vegas was the announcement that its merger with Ergotron has gone through.
With the joining of these two brands, Ergotron will continue to produce mounting solutions for both the A/V professional and consumer markets, while OmniMount will stay focused on mounting products for the home. Ergotron has been especially strong in the commercial IT and healthcare areas and will continue to target those markets.
One big benefit for OmniMount will be the opportunity to incorporate Ergotron's Constant Force technology into its branded products, the first of which were rolled out at CES: The PLAY20, PLAY20X and PLAY40 full-motion TV wall mounts, which join OmniMount's ActionMount line. These models enable TVs to be raised or lowered by up to 21 inches to facilitate group viewing, gaming, exercise or floor seating. The 20 ($129.95) and 20X ($149.94) models fit TVs with screens up to 32 inches with weight of up to 20 pounds (the X model adds a 9-inch arm extension for additional flexibility), while the 40 ($299.95) will accommodate TVs with up to 60-inch screens weighing up to 40 pounds.
OmniMount also introduced new workstation mounts at the show. Developed to accommodate telecommuters in particular, the WORK15 ($399.95) and WORK20 ($429.95)—also additions to the company's ActionMount series—are sit-to-stand workstation units that use Ergotron's Constant Force technology for simple, light-touch keyboard, mouse and monitor adjustment enabling users to switch easily between sitting and standing positions.
WORK15 supports a monitor of up to 15 pounds, while the 20 model can support two side-by-side monitors at a combined weight of up to 20 pounds.
