New Distributor is Old Friend for Irwin Seating
It’s a coming-home party of sorts for Oasis Home Theatre Seating, a new distributor of selected Irwin Seating home theater seating products. The new company, which caters to the home theater and interior design channels in the U.S. and Canada, was formed by Rose Pefhany, a specialist in the category who began her career in the electronics industry with Irwin in the early 1990s, leading its charge into the home theater space and personally designing its Ambassador and Performance VIP models.
In addition to the Irwin products, Oasis will distribute its own brand of home entertainment furniture. Products offered by Oasis include home theater loungers/recliners made of Italian leathers and burled woods, traditional theater-rocker style chairs, club chairs with matching ottomans, bar stools, tables and pillows.
In early 2006, Irwin closed its Toronto facility, from where Pefhany led its home theater operations, and exited the lounger segment of the home theater business. It then granted Pefhany the manufacturing and sales rights to the Ambassador and Performance VIP loungers, as well as distribution rights for its Ambassador, Marquee and Springfield rocker-style theater chairs, which continue to be built at its Grand Rapids, Mich., plant. Pefhany has since leveraged the dealer network she built at Irwin for her Oasis business.
Gail (Stefanos) Hutchins, who assisted Pefhany for many years in the Irwin, is Oasis’ business administrator, responsible for all day-to-day operations.
“We are overjoyed to be able to continue to bring to market these wonderful home theater seating products that so many custom integrators and interior designers have long relied upon for their clients’ entertainment needs,” said Pefhany. “We are also excited about developing a wide variety of new entertainment furniture products. With our current resources and creativity, the sky is the limit.”
