Monster Cable Drops the Cable
Monster Cable, the company whose focus has moved far beyond cables, is officially dropping the "Cable" from its name, Head Monster Noel Lee announced at the International CES press conference in New York Tuesday.
The move is being made, Lee said in an interview afterwards, because the company has moved so heavily into such non-cable categories as headphones, and "its so funny to have 'Cable' on a headphone." He noted that the company had informally phased out the "cable" for most of the last five years.
The company, however, will maintain its MonsterCable.com URL, as Monster.com is still owned by the job search website of that name.
Lee's announcement came prior to the unveiling of the music act for the company's annual Dealer Awards concert. The classic rock band Chicago will perform at this year's show, on Jan. 11 at the Paris Ballroom.
