Meridian Audio unveiled the 818V3 Reference Audio Core, the company’s newest version of its home audio system hub. The new reference-level two-channel machine adds “significant upgrades” to its arsenal and offers an upgrade path to existing 818 owners, Meridian said.
A key addition to the 818V3, Meridian said, is its new analog output card that features an upgraded circuit with filtering that broadens the bandwidth and maximizes the potential of high-resolution music. The new model comes with MQA support and the new chip also brings lip-sync control and DSD playback.
Further, the device comes with Sooloos capabilities. Sooloos, manufactured by Meridian, enabled a “potent multi-zone audio system,” Meridian said.
Additional features, provided by Meridian:
Featuring Meridian enhancement technologies, such as triple FIFO buffering, DSP unsampling and apodizing filters, this model also incorporates an advanced linear power supply and a new master oscillator with 40% lower jitter for further improved audio performance. The extensive connectivity counts Meridian SpeakerLink, enabling ultimate quality and convenience when driving Meridian DSP loudspeakers, as well as balanced and single-ended pre-amplifier outputs to effortlessly connect with non-Meridian electronics.
The new 818V3 comes in a standard black color and will retail for $16,000. An additional 270 color options are available for an $800 premium, Meridian said.
