High performance audio manufacturer Meridian pulled the covers off of two new In-Wall Loudspeakers that will join the company’s growing architectural speaker lineup. The DSP640.2 and DSP520.2 In-Wall Loudspeakers will be the first Meridian offerings to integrate the company’s DYNAMIC Hi-Res amplifiers, and are the first to be powered by the brand’s CLASS-M DSP engine.
As DYNAMIC-powered products, the pair of new in-walls are driven by high bandwidth, ultra-HD amps that Meridian claims exceed the Hi-Res audio standard. The way the amp is integrated into each speaker, though, makes it optimized for the lowest possible mechanical noise while also delivering lower output noise and improved total harmonic distortion (THD). That means the user will experience greater control, more accurate detail, and a more precise reproduction of spatial resolution.
Both loudspeakers are also designed to be minimally invasive from an architectural standpoint. They each sit just 100mm deep, meaning they’re discreetly installed into any home theater application, but they don’t skimp out on performance.
The DSP640.2 in-walls feature eight amps that deliver 100w per driver. And they’re capable of delivering over 150dB over 4m, meaning you’ll get full range of sound with bass extension that dives down to 40Hz. The DSP520.2 in-walls (pictured above) have a quad-amp DSP design that features four amps that deliver the same 100w per unit. Bass extension here can get down to 50Hz. And both also feature Meridian’s Centre Elevation technology, which “raises the perceived image location” for an under-screen loudspeaker to make it seem like the sound is coming through the actual display rather than from underneath it.
