Lutron's McKiernan Passes
Lutron has announced that John McKiernan, the company's vice chairman for the past 23 years, passed away last month at the age of 79. Known as "Mac," McKiernan joined Lutron shortly after its founding in 1961 and played a big part in it worldwide expansion.
“John put Lutron on the map. In doing so, John created a new industry – the electronic lighting control industry – which has created a new element in the economy both in America and in the rest of the world,” Joel Spira, Lutron Founder, Chairman, and Director of Research, said in a statement released by the company. “The entire Lutron family is saddened by the loss of someone who was so vital to the history of the company.”
McKiernan is survived by his three children and an extended family which includes nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
