Lutron Adds Fan Control to Caséta Wireless Platform
Rolled out back in 2014, the Caséta by Lutron smart lighting system was designed to make life easy for both the custom installer as well as the consumer. The platform carries the promise of being easy to install, program, and use as a smart lighting control system; plus it works with a number of other popular products like automated shades, smart speakers, smart thermostats, and voice assistants.
And now, as the company showcased during CES 2019 recently, you can add ceiling fans to that list. In Vegas, Lutron showcased its wireless fan speed control remote that can be integrated into a wall switch, accessed as a standalone Pico remote, and/or controlled through the Lutron app.
Like the rest of the Caséta system, Lutron’s fan speed control is easy to install and simple to set up, allowing the customer to convert most ceiling fans into a “smart” fan that’s wirelessly adjustable (and voice controllable) in a matter of minutes. The fan control doesn’t require a canopy module, Lutron explained, and it can be easily added to the Lutron app, which makes this a “quick 15-minute project.”
Once installed, the user will have access to four different fan speeds with the ability to set a favorite speed setting. And, of course, the fan can be integrated into existing Caséta scenes and schedules using the Lutron smart bridge and app. So, for example, a “good night” scene might lower the shades, turn off the lights, and set the fan to a medium speed.
“Caséta by Lutron has been a popular choice with some of the nation’s largest home builders,” Matt Swatsky, Vice-President of Residential Mid-Market Business, said in a statement. “The new ceiling fan control paired alongside Caséta dimmers, switches, and Pico remotes provides a clean, coordinated look throughout the home.”
Both the fan speed control and fan Pico remote will be available in March at select home improvement centers, online retailers, through electrical distributors, and through local electrical professionals. They’ll carry suggested pricing of $80 and $42 respectively.
