LP Smart Products collaborates with Elite Home Theater Seating to create smart seating furniture
Leggett & Platt Smart Products (LP) showed off the results of its collaboration with Elite Home Theater Seating during CEDIA 2015 earlier this month. The two companies came together to design a high-end theater chair that can detect human occupancy. The smart seating solution combined LP Smart Products’ LPSense and LPConnect technology with the launch of the LPConnect Package with Elite’s luxury handmade theater seating.
The LPConnect Package can be implemented into any piece of home furniture and includes a number of customizable features including auto stop safety control, integration with existing automation systems, memory presets, and control over WiFi, Bluetooth, and Zigbee.
“As the world becomes increasingly connected, people are searching for more ways to make their homes smarter, safer and more convenient for their personal comfort,” Jason Turner, general manager of LP Smart Products, said in a statement. “Our relationship with Elite enables everyone to enjoy this cutting edge technology that truly takes home theater seating to the next level.”
What LP Smart Products showed off at CEDIA is the capabilities of its new LP Connect Package. The LPSense technology uses capacitive sensing to detect human presence and can trigger actions based on activity, like playing or pausing a movie when the user gets into or out of the chair. Further, the chair and other connected furniture can be programmed to adjust room settings with the LPConnect technology.
“Through our combined research, we determined that the marriage of leading edge technology integration with Elite’s high caliber seating is what the market demands,” Bobby Bala, president of Elite Home Theater Seating, said in the statement. “This collaboration now enables us to further enhance the consumer’s desire for the latest in technology and comfort.”
