International CES 2013 Takes Over Las Vegas
Take a city filled with great new products and technologies, 150,000 attendees and taxi lines around the block, and you’ll begin to have some idea of the craziness that is the International CES in Las Vegas.
As the trade show is so enormous, CustomRetailer focused on several products specific to our industry, including audio, wireless streaming, projectors, screens and more. The following is just a small sample of what was seen and heard.
While there weren’t tons of high-end projectors and screens at the show, what we saw was memorable. Screen Innovations demonstrated a lineup of projection screens highlighted by the Black Diamond Zero Edge G2. The company also showed several new versions of the lesser-known Lunar 0.85 gain 4K and Solar 1.3 gain 4K screen materials.
The Black Diamond Zero Edge G2 screen is billed as “the world’s first” multidirectional ambient-light-rejecting projection screen offering the look and feel of a flat-panel TV.
The new Gray Wolf is the latest 3D LCOS projector from Wolf Cinema, and at $8,000, it’s also the company’s lowest-priced projector. It looked great on a 132-inch wide, 2.35:1 Screen Innovations Black Diamond 0.8 gain projection screen.
Over at the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, SIM2 demoed the super-exclusive three-chip HD DLP, dubbed Fuoriserie. Also on display at the SIM2 booth:
The best-in-class single-chip, dual-lamp 3D DLP projector known as the Sirio; and the Cinemaquattro, a three-chip DLP 4K Home Cinema Projector designed for extremely large spaces. But the star of the show was the world debut of the brand new SIM2 LUMIS Fuoriserie: Exclusive, powerful and unique—the Fuoriserie is a SIM2 LUMIS Projector like none other seen before.
Said Alberto Fabiano, Executive Vice President of SIM2 USA, “SIM2 is always working to provide its dealers with exclusive products capitalizing on new technologies, but our focus remains primarily on supporting our dealers by offering best-in-class products and services tailored for the custom industry. With the press filled with the daily ‘newest and greatest,’ it’s refreshing to have companies, like SIM2, that represent a constant in a world of vaporware. We pride ourselves on our limited and exclusive distribution.”
