Interactive TV Icon Joins Audio Advice
Audio Advice, a home entertainment provider based in Raleigh, N.C., and a mainstay of the North Carolina Triangle area since 1978, said Scott Newnam, former CEO of GoldPocket Interactive and Chairman of GoldPocket Wireless and Mixed Signals, has made a “substantial” investment in the company and “will bring his extensive expertise to Audio Advice as a partner and member of its Board of Directors.”
Newnam served as CEO and Chairman of the Board of GoldPocket Interactive, an interactive television company, from its founding in 2000 through its sale in 2005 to Tandberg Television. In 2003, GoldPocket was named one of the “top 20 fastest-growing young technology companies in North America” in the Deloitte and Touche Fast 500 list. In 2004 the company received an Emmy award, and Newnam was named to Hollywood Reporter’s Top 20 Next Generation list and Television Week’s Hot List of media executives. In 2005, GoldPocket won the Billboard Television Technology of the Year Award, and Newnam was profiled in FastCompany’s 100th anniversary issue for his innovations in digital media. Newnam is an inventor on a half-dozen digital media patents issued and pending in the U.S. and internationally, said Audio Advice.
“We are entering an exciting and changing time in our industry,” said Audio Advice President and Founder Leon Shaw. “Scott Newnam brings us an amazing ability to see into the future of our market. Scott’s background as a leading television industry executive affords him a skill set and experience that will help Audio Advice remain at the forefront of our markets.
“We have a common vision for the future of our industry and for extending Audio Advice’s role as an unmatched leader within the industry. Scott will allow me to focus on areas where I excel, such as sales and marketing. Scott’s history proves he will help us get the right people in the right places to grow Audio Advice to a new level.”
