HTSA, Goin’ to Kansas City, Has Good Time
Fifty-two members of the Home Theater Specialists of America (HTSA) attended the buying group’s sixth annual Custom Manager Meeting, which ran from June 13 to 15 in Kansas City, Mo.
The third in a series of middle management meetings this year—the first two were its Audio Boot Camp and Video Boot Camp—the Custom Manager gathering combined member and vendor presentations with roundtable and open discussions.
Kurt Sykes of Audio Advice, Matt Thompson of Appollo System and Mark LeClair of Definitive Audio discussed software and job costing. John Trimbach of Media Center manufacturer Niveus Media discussed how to use products like its own as high-end source components. Vinny Bagala of Summit Electronic Systems talked about hiring and finding new talent. Rob Gerhardt of Group Gerhardt discussed strategies for attracting builders, designers and architects, and also addressed the future of the custom installation and the importance of documentation.
David Horn of Middle Atlantic Products, Keith Haas and Brain Sandifier of Integra, and Hank Eisengrein of Universal Remote Control also presented at the event.
“It is pure pleasure to craft a meeting that develops into a whirlwind of enthusiasm, intellectual sharing and new friendships that seems to take on a life of its own,” said HTSA Executive DIrector Richard Glikes. “We made a lasting bond through the giving of ideas so freely.”
