Hisense, Stream TV Teaming on Glasses-Free "Ultra-D" 3D
Stream TV Networks and Hisense have announced a technology partnership in order to develop products that enable glasses-free 3D TV. The technology is branded as "Ultra-D."
The first product will be a 42-inch, 1080p Auto Stereoscopic 3D TV, although the technology will also be used in tablets, smartphones and other devices. The televisions will also come bundled with the SeeCube Conversion Box, which can autoconvert 2D and 3D-with-glasses displays into the glasses-free 3D format.
"The partnership with Hisense will help in massive proliferation of the Ultra-D technology. It will be a shot in the arm for 3D without glasses," Mathu Rajan, CEO of Stream TV Networks, said as part of the announcement. "The association with Hisense® will propel the 3D category and increase the reach of 3D without glasses devices in all parts of the world.”
The products will be shown at the IFA 2012 show in Berlin later this month. Pricing and targeted release dates were not announced.
