Francis Ford Coppola Reveals Why He Is Endorsing SIM2
In a candid interview from his Rubican Estate Winery in Rutherford, Calif., legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola explained why he had sought out a relationship with projection system manufacturer SIM2 Multimedia.
“After "Apocalypse Now", I knew that if the cinema became electronic it would be like unleashing a jeannie from a bottle," Coppola said. "And now it has come true. I wanted the best possible projector on the market for my own use, so I sought out SIM2, and then flew to Pordenone, Italy and met with them. They are a wonderful company, with wonderful engineering. They have fantastic designers and engineers in Italy, and of course the Italians have always been characters and innovators!”
Coppola went on to explain how he had flown the projector from Italy to Argentina and when he sat down to watch he couldn't believe the picture quality and detail. “There was this spectacular image and I thought, 'SIM2 made this possible!'”
Coppola spoke before a contingent of international guests; dealers, distributors, industry partners, and press to celebrate the launch of SIM2's worldwide ad campaign. The “white” campaign was conceived and designed to be “green” in order to use the least amount of ink on printed materials. Added SIM2 Multimedia President, Mr. Maurizio Cini, “Sim2 is committed to achieving a sustainable society, continuously striving to reduce the effects on the environment by developing environmentally compatible products and processes. It is very important to us that, in such a monumental campaign we stay true to these values.”
Mr. Coppola, who has used SIM2 projectors in his post-production facility for the past two years was also quick to point out why he was lending his name to the campaign, “The sole reason I am doing this is out of the sincere admiration for the product and the company as a filmmaker. I would encourage everyone to get one if they want the most amazing picture possible for their own home theaters.”
