CEDIA Expo 2018: Epson Pro Cinema 4050 Carries Advanced Pixel-Shifting
With round-the-clock demonstrations during show hours at CEDIA 2018, Epson took the wraps off the Pro Cinema 4050 – its first projector with 4K PRO-UHD, which is an enhanced iteration of its 3-chip, 3LCD advanced pixel-shifting technology. The projector has the capability to receive, process and project native 4K, and it offers wider color gamut, high dynamic range and 100 percent color brightness for 4K content reproduction, at a suggested retail price of $2,399. It is being offered through CEDIA dealers as well as through the Magnolia division of Best Buy, said Epson.
It provides a 10-bit color output, a 200,000:1 contrast ratio and Epson’s 15-element glass Advanced Projection Lens that is said to display images with almost no hot spots or chromatic aberration. Other specs are 2,400 lumens of color and 2,400 lumens of white brightness. A Pro Cinema kit features a three-year warranty, with a 90-day warranty on lamps, a ceiling mount, a cable cover, and an extra lamp.
In a contiguous demo room, Kevin Miller of ISF (Imaging Science Foundation) conducted demos of the Epson Pro Cinema 6040UB, which now benefits from a firmware upgrade for enhanced HDR performance.
